Thank you so much, this was very interesting. I was actually born in Spain ( not telling you when though!) but moved around europe and lastly settled in the UK when I was 5. I dont remember an awful lot of the few years I was in spain, but the smell of spanish food always seems to ring a bell in me or something. It's weird how I dont remember anything except the smells, isn't it! I even found a website dedicated to spanish recipes, which gave me great delight and thought I ought to share with your readers. Anyway, thank you again. I'll get my husband to add your feed to my rss thing...

I'm so worried about the way our love ones are headed in nowadays. Watching Jamie Olivers food revolution tv program scared the thingies out of me. I suggest we all start cooking some healthy recipe like these at home if we're going to fix this horrible situation. The ones on that site seem pretty easy, I tried last night and it's the first time my family has eaten well in so long, I just feel wonderful.

Hi Tracy. Actually i know all about that bill and did reference it as the so called "food safety" bill. it's a sham and made to take over our food production even more and give FDA even greater power than it already has (and more money, and manpower) to go around harassing small farmers while things like the egg recall for salmonella will continue to be swept under the rug and no improvements made to the mass production food facilities to improve cleanliness and sanitation much less address the super bugs created by mass feeding of antibiotic in feeds to these factory farmed animals in order for them to survive the dismal and disgusting conditions they live in. but that's a post for another day to do it justice. The Campaign for Liberty addresses the problems of the bill infinitely better than I ever could. http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=37880

Please go learn about Senate bill S510. In addition, did anyone notice that Obama is hoping to join the Codex Alimentarius?

I couldn't agree more! Unfortunately the majority of people I talk to still see this as scandalous but if they keep showing their true colors maybe the rest of the US will wake up and fire them. We can hope, anyway.

Once again the only hope we have to eat healthy foods is to not eat processed foods and to buy directly off farms and from farmers markets that we can trust. That is until the FDA makes it illegal to do so, which is their aim with their campaign against small farmers and raw milk.

Which is why the real hope long term for eating healthy food is to abolish the FDA and all the related alphabet soup agencies.

The best bet is to find and develop a releationship with local farmers in your area. To find local farmers check out a few websites and organizations: http://www.eatwild.org, http://www.westonaprice.org (chapter leaders are a wealth of information and by joining you get a shopping guide and a newsletter with ads from farmers and other great services), http://www.localharvest.org and more. This is an excellent question for a blog post and I will address it later this week in more depth. Healthy eating! =)
